"Docstore Racing were delighted to compete in the Uniroyal Fun Cup 25 hour race, the world's longest race, at Spa over the weekend of the 7th and 8th July 2007. We were campaigning the twice twenty five hour winning car 14, acquired from Adrian Mardlin, at the beginning of this season and the RNIB car 158 dressed as a Police patrol car. Both cars saw the chequered flag after a massive effort from pit crew and drivers alike."
Despite high hopes from previous years, they were unable to secure a grid slot as close to the front, mainly due to allocating extra laps to those drivers who were new to the car.
N. Padmore started the race and after a storming performance, reached 18th place after his first session. He then handed over to Bankhurst, who managed to climb a further two places to 16th, only to be hit by much increased fuel consumption (eventually identified as a result of lesser quality fuel than had been used in qualifying) and running out of fuel on the run through Eau Rouge.
The team credit their "excellent crew managed by Rob Navin", who began the first of a series of repairs that would eventually last all night on both cars. Racing consistently, each driver took a session and performed well. However, N.Padmore, again, had to return to the pits early during his stint, with what turned out to be a broken flywheel and cambelt.
During the next four hours, Bankhurst managed only eight laps, while the mechanical issues were resolved, but soon the car was charging again, sadly from a lowly 129th place. N. Padmore finally took the flag at 5pm.
"Thanks must go to all the Docstore Racing crew for their great efforts. They battled through engine re assembly, suspension rebuilds and gearbox changes across the two cars, to great effect".

Qualifying Position: 70th
Qualifying Time: 3.13.083
Race Result: 70th

The team qualified better than they expected and were delighted that because of the closeness of the racing, they were only three seconds off 3rd place on the grid.
Reynolds was elected by the team to start the race and by the close of lap one, he had gained ten places. But, according to the team "in true Jemco fashion" the first drama of the race was just round the corner - Reynolds was hit in the rear, whilst trying to avoid a spinning car. This broke the wishbone and cost the team four laps in the pits to rectify the problem. They rejoined the race in 134th position.
For the next six hours, the team continued to push the car for position. However, a moment of panic occurred after midnight, when Hancock had to pit during his stint, due to a loss of electrics and all the team could see was him pushing the car down the pitlane!
The problem was rectified, which meant that during the night and into the morning, they continued to rise through the field, reaching 69th position, by 10.35am on Sunday.
Watt's stint was memorable, as a rear wishbone collapsed and he lost one of his rear wheels at over 100 mph. This cost the team forty minutes in the pits to recover and they re-joined the circuit in 95th position.
Hancock revealed that for the last six hours through to the 5pm finish, the car ran like a dream... car 88 was as quick as anything on the circuit - once again we continued to climb up the rankings, as we overtook the other cars".
Twenty four hours later and Hancock took to the wheel. On his last lap (their 395th, 1,600 miles since they started) he overtook yet another car, to push the team back into 70th position. This was exactly where they had started twenty five hours previously.
The team said "despite this touch of irony, we had one of the best Jemco weekends ever, the Fun Cup was just that - fantastic fun, we enjoyed success (5th UK team to finish). Thanks go again to JPR Motorsport for their help over the weekend, the 2008 Fun Cup is already in the diaries".
The team also insured six JPR Motorsport cars for the race. For further information visit www.insuremotorsport.com

Qualifying Position: 6th
Qualifying Time: 3.08.788
Race Result: 103rd
Best: 3.10.256
The team qualified 6th overall, which was a fantastic result. They were the highest placed British team.
After three hours they had driven a fantastic race and were 1st overall. For around the next eight hours the team remained strong. They moved up and down between 5th and 6th position.
However, disaster struck at around 12.30 am when the team were hit at the Bus-Stop. Unfortunately, in the middle of the night, they were then involved in two more incidents, when they had a slide at Les Combes and were then hit. This was a major blow to the front running team and resulted in a few hours lost in the pits. They never recovered from these two crashes and finished 103rd.

Race Result: 34th (3rd UK team)

This was the first time that Wild and J. Rose had raced with Hartland and Vignali. The two latter racers are UK regulars with team WASP
It was the Italian, Vignali, who started the race for the team and initially lost a few places in the chaos of the start. When the first pit stop arrived, Vignali handed over to J. Rose and by this point, the team were running as high as 11th. This was a great achievement for the team. Wild said " we had decided to run as long as we dare for each stint", which obviously worked well for the them.
After the first few pit stops the team were running in a highly respectable 26th place and dropped to the mid thirties during J. Rose, Wild and Hartland's stints. Four and a half hours into the race, Wild's stint was cut short after he spun on oil and hit the tyre barrier at Fagnes. He returned to the pits, where the mechanics checked the car and Hartland then took over for his stint.
As night fell, their stints were drama free and they produced a consistent series of stints. The brake pads were changed at 12.30 am and the fuel filter was cleaned.
After Wild's stint at 6.00 am they were running 44th.
Around midday, the car came into the pits again, for another pad change, new tyres and to clear the fuel filter for the second time. The new tyres, plus increasing vibration in the steering, their pace dropped off.
Throughout the last stint they were holding 4th place UK car.
However, car 103 (the next UK car ahead of them) was involved in a crash and had to be transported back to the pits, which meant that the repairs cost them around ten laps and handed 3rd placed UK car to the trio.
It was Hartland that completed the final stint and in the last hour, a number of cars hit problems and they moved from 43rd to 35th. They eventually lapped car 11, to take 34th place by almost the last lap.
They were truly thrilled to finish the 25 hours, as the 3rd highest placed UK car.

Father and son, Rupert and Olle Webb were completely new to Spa, but the rest of the team were no strangers to the circuit.
In the first few hours Bentwood reached 9th position. However, the team had to make many unscheduled pit stops, due to fuel starvation and eventually, changed the fuel filter. The team later found out that they had been provided with dirty fuel, which had cost them a great deal of time. They left the pits in 70th position after the pit stop.
Through the night, the team worked brilliantly together and were as highly placed as 30th.
However, on Sunday, the drive shaft broke and Carman was also involved in an unavoidable accident. Once the accident damage was fixed in the pits they rejoined the track in 44th place
They proved how strong they were when O. Webb then set his team's fastest lap of the race on Sunday afternoon, with a 3.10.599.
They have vowed to returned again next year and take on all teams at the 25 hours

The team felt that the car was showing a distinct lack of power during qualifying, as they were only able to produce a lap in the 3.10s, which the team felt was off their pace.
During the first stint, the team drove a steady race and reached 12th position. From then on, until the early hours of the morning, they were running impressively, between 5th and 13th, one lap down from the lead lap.
However, the team then noticed a loss of oil pressure, which was a major blow for them, as they finally lost all pressure. The team were one of the few who then had some sleep during the night, opting to go to bed and replace the engine in the morning.
They ran their car for the last five hours and finished 126th overall.

Qualifying Position: 31st

Race Result: 4th (1st UK team)

They qualified 31st, having struggled with straight-line speed, the team were disappointed. Pelle started the race for the team. By lap two he had already reached 25th place and continued to speed past other teams, overtaking up the famous hill towards Eau Rouge. Having completed a fantastic first hour and half hour stint, Pelle then handed over to Harris, who was the fastest man on the track and took the trio into the top three. A combination of experience, having raced at the 25 hours four times previously and sheer determination, meant that after eight hours the team were in 1st place overall, which was where they stayed for the next twelve hours.
The trio kept the lead from the 2nd placed Belgians throughout Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday morning.
However, disaster struck, when Pelle, whose stint it was at the time (5 am on Sunday), had to make an unscheduled pit stop, due to a sticking throttle cable. The mechanics worked extremely fast and around five minutes later, Pelle was back on the track with a new one. However, the stop cost the team the lead and they were now 7th overall. Over the next few hours they pushed extremely hard to work their way back up to 2nd.
Unfortunately, their bad luck was tightening its grip. The team were then devastated when Pelle lost 1st, 3rd and 4th gear, four hours from the end. However, a sense of British camaraderie was not far away - fellow British racer, Chris Hart, from Team Trucks 2 Go, who had a snapped alternator earlier in the race and lost two hours in the pits, pushed the JPR Motorsport Contitech car down the straights for an hour, to help them with their lack of power from the failing gearbox. The team were extremely grateful, as this enabled them to keep a grip of their 2nd place.
Rose took the wheel for the final one and a half hour stint, after an awesome twenty three and a half hours racing. It was inevitable that 2nd place was going to be snatched from him with only two gears. Now in 3rd, the gap between him and the 4th place Belgians was a minute and a half toward the final tail of the race, but the loss of gears meant that Rose was losing as many as ten seconds per lap. The last lap saw the 3rd place Belgians catch and overtake him, as he was suffering horrendously with only two gears.
The chequered flag was shown after an amazing twenty five hours of racing and it was a 4th place overall and highest placed British team for JPR Motorsport's Rose, Harris and Pelle - a great achievement for the team, who raced with only two gears for the last four hours.

Race Result: 100th
Best: 3.13.253
The team rented a car from JPR Motorsport for their first ever Fun Cup race, at this year's Spa 25 hours.
It was Reuben who qualified fastest in 63rd place, so the team decided that he should start the race. However, due to an unscheduled pit stop on lap two, the team were forced back to 138th position. Undeterred, they kept pushing and reached 105th at around 1 am on Sunday. At this point, they had to pit for a new gearbox and front wheel bearing. MacLennan said "the mechanics did a fantastic job and got us back out in about fifty five minutes."
After the pit stop, the race was free from trouble for the team, until the final half hour when they suffered from gearbox trouble again. However, they continued to push hard until the chequered flag was waved at 5pm on Sunday.
David MacLennan, said " We all had a fantastic time and we would like to thank everyone at JPR for all the help and hospitality we were given".

The team had various problems during the first ten hours and were plagued by an intermittent electrical problem. They were also hit with alternator problems and a puncture. During the night, the car ran well and the team made places up. However, disaster occurred once again for the team, when in the last hour of the race, they hit a car extremely hard that had spun in front of them and the car had to be retired from the race.

Mark Simm started the race and had a few encounters with the gravel trap, as he was still learning the circuit. Simm then handed over to Greensmith, who also had a few scrapes with the gravel trap, as he was a novice to the circuit too.
The pair, who are regulars and team mates in all UK Fun Cup rounds, also shared the drive with two other racers - Bob Couchman and Bob Siska. The latter driver had come all the way from America to compete. The pair took twenty percent of the driving each and both had a trouble free race.
Mark Simm, said "The car was fantastic and the team were even better - thanks to them".
190 - CUISINE DE FRANCE/SPAR
Qualifying Position: 69th
Qualifying Time: 3.13.012
Race Result: 60th
Best: 3.11.499
The qualifying position was a disappointment for the team, who are front-runners in the UK Fun Cup. However, a broken valve explains their lack of pace.
It was Cate who started the race and was cruelly hit on lap seven, having soared already to 49th position. Much to the teams' dismay, it took over two laps to repair the damaged suspension, so they were 130th after a mere forty minutes. The team now had an arduous catch-up journey ahead of them.
However, to the team's surprise, by 9.30 am on Sunday they had climbed back to 12th overall and 2nd UK car, behind the JPR Motorsport Contitech team. Ian Connell said after the pit stop " we flew and I was amazed [to be 2nd UK car]".
Sadly, the team then suffered from a broken gearbox and lost one hour replacing it, which pushed them back to 80th. However, by the end of the race, they had fought their way back through the pack to 61st overall.
Credit goes to the Cuisine de France/SPAR for their endless fight and no doubt, they will be back in 2008 to pursue a podium position.
